Share the Caring Campaign Letter
Dear Friend:
We Care…Look around your neighborhood: Is
every third or fourth home occupied by someone age 60 or older? There
are estimated to be more than 988,000 people in Indiana
over age 60 and that number is rapidly increasing. More than
291,000 of them experience some limitations in two or more “activities
of daily living” such as bathing, dressing, walking or cooking
for themselves that make it difficult to remain independent in their
own homes. Indiana residents are simply living longer. The
number of seniors who are most likely to need our help – people
age 85 and older – is doubling each year.
The truth is, this help costs money.
Generations will spend an average of $350 a month per person in addition to other funding sources to help people over 60 in our six county service area remain in their own homes. Meals on Wheels is one of the programs we provide that plays a vital part in individuals maintaining their independence. This year we provided 134,676 home delivered meals and 46,871 meals at our 15 neighborhood meal sites. Meals on Wheels not only delivers a hot, nutritious meal year round to older adults in your community; it also serves as a daily personal contact and safety check to so many who are living alone.
The needs are increasing – the costs are increasing – government funds are not.

This holiday season, please help us as we continue to help those who
are among our most precious and valuable resources – our seniors. We
are honored to be able to help them maintain their independence, choice
and dignity.
Thank You for Caring
Your tax-deductible contribution will make a profound difference in
the lives of hundreds of older adults in your community. Our clients,
their caregivers, and Generations staff wish you a joyful and blessed
holiday season. Please accept our thanks for your prayers and
consideration.
Sincerely,
