While good nutrition is essential to health, many older adults begin to neglect their diets when shopping, cooking and cleaning become more difficult, or when dietary problems restrict their food choices.
Thanks to Meals on Wheels, hundreds of older adults and individuals with disabilities receive the nutrition they need, when they need it. And the program delivers more than an affordable meal that’s hot, tasty and nutritious — it also serves as a safety check and an important outside link should a problem arise for the client.
Our hot meal program provides clients with a hot, nutritious, home delivered three days a week in various locations throughout the six-county area. The meals are delivered to the client's home by a driver who is a volunteer or part-time employee. The contact drivers make with their meal clients also serves as a safety check because often they are the only person the client sees that day. Meals are funded by state and federal funds for clients who meet specific qualifications. Other clients donate according to their income.
